On Ecstasy, Consensus Is Elusive (washingtonpost.com)

"Like everyone, young people stop trusting you when you bend the truth to scare them," Rosenbaum said in a statement. "Good science, not misguided fear, is what helps us talk honestly and effectively with our teenagers about drug use and their safety."

What is interesting to me is that no one really talks publically about drug use in terms of safety. It is generally a, "drugs are so bad," message that is lost on kids who see their parents doped up on nicotene, caffeine, cannabis, alcohol, prozac, paxil....
i got to that place tonight where i wanted friends, but not the hassle of setting up time to be with friends... know what i mean? i wanted to head down to cheers and have them already there hanging out. i was im'ing tonight and this came out at one point:

i need friends. friends that live close to me and read and like wine and have funny little quirks and too much education...

i have friends. very good friends. they just all live a hell of a long way away or they have obligations that severely limit their availability...

anyway. whine. whine. whine.

i'm done.
